Who is my Advisor?

Prof. Man-Lui Lau is the Director of the M.A. Economics Program and also your Advisor.

 

How do I register Fall classes?  

Go to the "Registration/Advising/Orientation" tab of this manual for specific instructions and make sure that you register for your fall semester between June 5th and July 1st.

How do I get my textbooks for each class?

All textbooks are available in the USF Bookstore a week or two before each course begins.

How do I get my OneCard (aka USF Identification card)? - After you register for your classes, you will need to go to the OneCard office on the Lone Mountain (1st floor, Room 130) campus to have your photo taken and your card printed. Bring ID with you (driver's license or passport). Their office hours are generally 9am to 5pm.

How will the Department contact me to provide me with information?

- It is very important to note that once you are a registered student, the Department will no longer use your personal email address to send you important email broadcasts. Therefore, if you do not plan to regularly use or check your myUSF email address that was provided to you, then you must take action to have your myUSF emails automatically forwarded to one of your personal email accounts that you regularly check.  

How do I have myUSF emails automatically forwarded to one of personal email accounts?

- Log onto your myUSF account with your username and password. The information was provided to you by our Graduate Admissions Office via email shortly after you received your acceptance letter. If you cannot find this information now, then please contact USF’s ITS Department at 422-6668 for this information.  Logon:  http://myusf.usfca.edu/

Once you are logged into your myUSF account, go to “email”, click on “options”, click on “settings” where you will see the “mail forwarding” field to fill in.

Is there campus parking?

- You can inquire about the  types of parking permits via USFs Public Safety Office:

Comprehensive Exam FAQ

 

What is the comprehensive exam?

The comprehensive exam measures your knowledge on micro and macro economics. This exam is made up of two tests: 1.) Macro 2.) Micro - which are given on separate days

When is it offered?

The exam is offered every Fall & Spring semester

​

How long is it?

The exam is usually takes ~4 hours

​

How many times can I take it?

As many times as needed within the offered time periods

​

What if I failed my Macro exam, but passed my Micro exam, can I take just my Macro exam when it is given again?

No, you need to take/pass both of the exams at the same time.
